Abdurrahman Köse, Chairman of the Stronger Agencies Platform, made a statement on the insurance sector and emphasised that the insurance agency profession is developing and increasing in importance both in Turkey and in the world with each passing day. Köse stated that insurance agencies are not only a structure that issues policies, but also perform a multifaceted profession from raising awareness of the insured to risk analysis, from the damage process to consultancy services.
“Agency is One of the Professions of the Future”
In his evaluation, Köse made the following statements:
“Insurance agencies are not just a sales channel. They are the face of insurance in the field and the representative of assurance. In this period of accelerated digitalisation and technological transformation, the agency profession is becoming stronger by keeping pace with changing conditions. Significant progress has been made in terms of both legal infrastructure and professional standards. In this respect, insurance agency is among the professions of the future both in Turkey and in the world.”
“Strong Agencies Means Strong Insurance Sector”
Stating that agencies are of strategic importance for the sustainability of the insurance sector, Köse said that strong and independent agencies also contribute to the spread of insurance awareness.
“Insurance literacy in the society is not at a sufficient level. At this point, the most important structure that stands by the insured, informs them and directs them to the right policy is the insurance agencies. Strengthening the agencies means strengthening the sector.”
“Our Struggle for a Fairer Sector Will Continue”
Köse reminded that as the Stronger Agencies Platform, they have been looking for solutions to structural problems in the sector for a long time and stated that they continue to seek solutions together with their colleagues on many issues ranging from commission rates to competition conditions, from the fight against digital platforms to new generation agency models.
“We are doing our best to ensure that agencies gain the reputation and earnings they deserve. Our struggle against unfair competition, monopolisation and lack of supervision in the sector will continue with determination.”
International Agency Emphasis
Stating that the role of insurance agencies is increasing in the world, Köse pointed out that the value given to agencies in Europe and other developed countries should also increase in Turkey.
“Digital transformation is of course inevitable, but no model that ignores the role of agencies in this transformation is sustainable. In Europe, agencies are the first door of trust for the insured. This structure needs to be supported more in Turkey as well.”
