In line with its sustainability strategy, the MAPFRE Group reduced its energy consumption by 27% in 2024, achieving its 2030 target years ahead of schedule. The Group also offset approximately 80% of its global carbon footprint through biodiversity-based projects. MAPFRE Insurance continues its sustainability efforts in Turkey without slowing down. The company completely neutralized its carbon footprint, calculated at 661.42 tons in 2024, through the environmental projects it supported, closing the year with zero carbon emissions.
27% Reduction in Energy Consumption, 10,000 Tons of Carbon Emissions Prevented
Moving toward its “Net Zero” goal for 2050, the MAPFRE Group significantly exceeded its 16% target for 2030 with a 27% energy savings in 2024. As a result, electricity and fossil fuel consumption decreased by 40 million kWh, preventing approximately 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. In Turkey, MAPFRE Insurance also achieved a significant success in the fight against climate change by reducing its carbon footprint by 38%.
Global Balancing Success Through Biodiversity-Based Projects
MAPFRE Group’s environmental vision is not limited to offsetting emissions; it is based on multifaceted strategies such as reduction, environmental improvement, and collaboration with nature. By 2024, the Group had offset approximately 80% of its global carbon footprint through biodiversity-focused projects. MAPFRE Insurance in Turkey is also part of this initiative.
