Zurich Sigorta Group Turkey’s CEO Yılmaz Yıldız made a significant impact at the UN Global Compact HUB and Leaders Summit held in New York. The event ran parallel to the United Nations General Assembly sessions, highlighting Yılmaz’s influence in the realm of sustainable development as he participated both as a speaker and a jury member.
During his talk at the ‘Mobilizing Capital for Climate Action – Innovation and Partnerships’ panel, Yıldız underscored that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) should act as a compass for businesses worldwide. He emphasized the call for a new leadership paradigm that goes beyond traditional financial success to include generating value for a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
The Leaders Summit also saw Yıldız contributing as a jury member in a session that showcased ‘SDG Innovation Presentations: Solutions for a Sustainable Business World.’ Here, he evaluated the work of 15 global teams who had developed innovative projects corresponding to sustainable objectives over the preceding nine months, probing into details that underscore the relevance of entrepreneurship in empowering both the business landscape and societal well-being.

Yıldız articulated the pivotal role of the insurance sector in driving sustainable development. He delineated four key areas where the insurance industry bolsters sustainable finance: through insuring direct investments, advancing risk engineering assessments to mitigate potential losses, fostering transformation with innovative products and services, and engaging as investors managing a vast portion of global financial assets. Consequently, the insurance industry not only supports sustainable development but also spearheads transformative shifts.
Yılmaz Yıldız concluded with a commitment to perpetuate value creation across all stakeholders by intertwining awareness and purposeful action within their strategic operations.
