Unico Sigorta Recognized for Excellence in Employee Engagement
Unico Sigorta has once again been honored as “One of Turkey’s Best Workplaces” for the second year in a row as part of the 2024 Best Employers Program conducted by Kincentric, a global leader in human resources and management consultancy.
Placing a strong emphasis on “people” as the core of its operations, Unico Sigorta is committed to enhancing employee loyalty and the overall experience at work. Reflecting this commitment, Unico Sigorta participated in the “Kincentric Best Employers – Best Workplaces” program for 2024, following its participation in 2023. This year, the company achieved a nearly 100 percent participation rate, a remarkable 79 percent loyalty score, and a 91 percent satisfaction rate. Notably, these figures represent a 4-point increase in engagement and a 7-point rise in satisfaction compared to the previous year.
The Best Employers Program: A Benchmark of Workplace Excellence
The “Best Employers – Best Workplaces” program is anchored in over 50 years of research by Kincentric, evaluating workplace excellence across 78 global markets and over 4,000 companies in the past five years alone. In Turkey, the program has been a cornerstone since 2006, making it the country’s premier workplace survey.
In 2024, the program assessed approximately 260 companies across 44 sectors, with around 430 companies participating in the research. Among these, 31 companies were distinguished as “Kincentric Best Employer” for offering outstanding employee experiences and workplace environments.
Focus Areas: Engagement, Agility, Leadership, and Talent
The Kincentric certification goes beyond high engagement metrics, examining four strategic areas: “Agility,” “Engaging Leadership,” and “Talent Focus” indices that influence engagement. Unico Sigorta exceeded the average with its scores, marking a 5-point average improvement over the previous year.
Enhancing Employee Experience: Meaningful Work and Corporate Culture
Unico Sigorta is committed to strengthening employee loyalty and experience by embedding its values and people-centric approach in its business processes and corporate culture. By fostering interdepartmental coordination and horizontal communication, the company aims to “join forces through cooperation and solidarity while respecting the separation of powers.”
In the aftermath of the 2023 employee engagement and experience survey, Unico Sigorta analyzed the results with managers and implemented specific action plans throughout the year. This included increased employee participation in decision-making, a robust internal communication process with one-on-one interviews by the People and Culture Directorate, and innovative practices in fringe benefits. The company also restructured its talent management processes with a strategic outlook.
The organizational structure was dynamically updated to align with company goals and strategies, leading to a 30 percent increase in the workforce, from 243 employees at the end of 2023 to 315 by 2024.
Unico Sigorta’s Journey: Guided by Values and Inspired by Employees
Unico Sigorta’s Human and Culture Director, Büşra Özkan, underscored the team effort behind this achievement: “Our focus has consistently been on people during our ‘Change, Transformation and Development’ journey initiated three years ago under the leadership of our General Manager, Mr. Ender Güzeler. This award is a testament to our corporate culture and the bond we have with our employees.”
Highlighting the importance of corporate culture, Özkan added: “In our continuous development journey, our company’s values and employee feedback serve as our guiding compass. While our employees’ insights offer a realistic perspective, our values help us maintain our corporate identity and mission. Winning the ‘Best Workplace’ accolade once again is a source of immense pride and a reflection of the priority we place on employee loyalty and experience. Being recognized as an organization where employees say, ‘I’m glad I am from Unico,’ will continue to inspire us in the future.”
