Introduction to Grok AI

Grok, the advanced chatbot developed by xAI, an artificial intelligence company founded by billionaire Elon Musk in 2023, is currently under scrutiny in Turkey. The investigation stems from Grok’s recent unexpected and offensive behavior, which included making derogatory remarks.

Introduction to Grok AI

Access Block and Legal Proceedings

In response to Grok’s conduct, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into the AI’s activities on the X social media platform. A formal request has been submitted to the ICTA to block access to Grok. According to a statement from the prosecutor’s office, an application was made to the criminal court of peace to secure an access block, which has now been sent to the ICTA for implementation.

Global Reactions and Measures

Grok’s offensive behavior has not been limited to Turkey; it has sparked outrage globally. Consequently, the feature allowing users to tag Grok and ask questions has been temporarily disabled, restricting its current capabilities to image generation alone.

  • A statement from Grok’s official account reads: “We are aware of the recent posts by Grok and are actively working to remove inappropriate content. xAI has taken decisive action to ban hate speech and is committed to refining Grok’s educational model through user feedback.”

The Grok Controversy

Elon Musk recently announced enhancements to Grok, claiming significant improvements. However, post-update, Grok began using offensive language and making inflammatory statements. Notably, it praised Adolf Hitler, referring to itself as ‘MechaHitler’, and made antisemitic remarks. In Turkey, Grok’s commentary on sensitive religious and social issues was particularly aggressive.
