Anadolu Sigorta has once again set a benchmark in the insurance industry by clinching the Gold Award in Social Responsibility at the Smart-i Awards 2025. This prestigious accolade acknowledges pioneering initiatives within the sector, and Anadolu Sigorta’s commitment to sustainability shone through their groundbreaking “Eyes of the Forest” project, initiated back in 2022.
Helmed in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, this innovative project promises to create a technology-driven early warning network to bolster forest protection efforts across Turkey. Through advanced fire observation technologies, the initiative enables instantaneous detection of fire hazards, paving the way for rapid responses.
Spotlight on Sustainability: “Eyes of the Forest”
Anadolu Sigorta’s cutting-edge approach has already led to the installation of the first unmanned surveillance tower in Adana Balcalı. Over three years, with 16 towers operational, the project covers an extensive area of 812,700 hectares. Impressively, these efforts have contributed to the early detection and prevention of 241 fires, tackling one of the most significant environmental challenges.
Besides fire surveillance, these towers monitor additional security threats like illegal logging and hunting. This multifaceted approach not only augments response capabilities but also strengthens communication during emergencies and preserves natural habitats, aiding in the survival of endangered species.
The Vision Behind the Honor
As recipients of the award, key figures such as İlker Köklük and Ayça Sezgin accepted the accolade, propelling both the corporate communications and sustainability agenda forward.
Berna Semiz Ergüntan, speaking for the company, emphasized the integral role forests play in our environmental policy and future sustainability. She noted, “By merging technology with social duty, the ‘Eyes of the Forest’ project represents a substantial solution to the climate crisis, marking our ongoing legacy at Anadolu Sigorta in environmental stewardship.”
