Ana Sigorta AŞ has made an important appointment aimed at enhancing its corporate governance structure. As of May 6, 2025, Mehmet Kalkavan, a well-experienced professional in the insurance sector, has been appointed as a Board Member of Ana Sigorta AŞ. Mr. Kalkavan will also serve as the Chairman of the Audit Committee.
With this appointment, Ana Sigorta aims to advance its corporate values while continuing to offer innovative solutions to the sector with a dynamic management approach and a policyholder-oriented strategy.
Who is Mehmet Kalkavan?
Mehmet Kalkavan graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics, and received his master’s degree in Financial Economics from Boston University. He started his career as an Insurance Auditor at the Insurance Supervisory Board of the Undersecretariat of Treasury in 1993. During his 11 years there, he played significant roles in the audit and regulatory processes of the sector.
Serving as Vice Chairman of the Insurance Supervisory Board between 2004-2006 and 2008-2009, Mr. Kalkavan worked as a manager in numerous areas, from the preparation of audit programs to the training of new auditors joining the sector.
In 2009, he served as the Deputy Secretary General of the Insurance Association of Turkey (TSB) and as the Secretary General between 2013 and 2015. In 2015, he was appointed General Manager of the Turkish Insurance Institute Foundation, where he implemented many projects to raise insurance awareness and pioneered the development of training programs.
In 2024-2025, Mr. Kalkavan served as the Head of Internal Systems at Türk Reasürans AŞ, leading the organization’s risk management, internal control, compliance processes, and actuarial analysis.
He has also served as a board member in prominent organizations such as TCIP, TARSİM, Insurance Arbitration Commission, and Türk Loydu Foundation. He represented Turkey at the European level as a member of the Insurance Europe Executive Committee.
